Chief editor
Leszek Baj is the chief editor at Polityka Insight. He previously headed the PI's economic desk. Before that, he worked as an economic journalist and later as deputy head of the business desk at Gazeta Wyborcza. In 2014, he received the Władysław Grabski Award from the National Bank of Poland. He participated in the global consortium of investigative journalists working on data leaks from tax havens (Swiss Leaks and Panama Papers). He graduated from the Warsaw School of Economics.

Hanna analyses macroeconomic data, public finance and the labour market. She is also interested in social policy and regulatory impact analysis. Previously, she worked for the Parliamentary Committee for Economics and Development, where she was responsible for evaluating economic draft laws. Earlier, she was tasked with preparing draft laws on economic and social policy. She also worked with the Civil Development Forum Foundation as well. She has an MA in Economics and Law & Economics from the Warsaw School of Economics.

Karol Tokarczyk analyses the digital economy at Polityka Insight. Previously, he worked for the Polish Radio News Agency, where he was responsible for covering major economic and business events. He studied History, followed by further studies on the mechanisms of the eurozone, at the University of Zielona Góra.

Graduate of sociology at the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań, currently studying at the Doctoral School of Social Sciences of Adam Mickiewicz University. Head of Security and International Affairs Desk
Marek Świerczyński has headed the security desk at Polityka Insight since 2015. During this period, he has written more than 1500 analyses focusing on Polish defence policy, NATO, conflicts and crises, technical modernisation, and Polish-US military cooperation. He has been covering defence tenders and international security issues for most of his career in journalism. In 1997-2005, he worked at the Polish Section of the BBC World Service in Warsaw and London, and later in several radio and television newsrooms. In 2010-2015, he was the publisher of the “Polska i Świat” programme at TVN24. He has worked with the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, the Center for European Policy Analysis in Washington, DC, the German Marshall Fund of the United States, the Atlantic Community in Berlin, the Polish Institute of International Affairs and Poland's National Defence Academy. He studied law at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań.
Senior Analyst for Security and Eastern European Affairs
Anna Maria Dyner is a security and eastern affairs analyst. She worked at the Polish Institute of International Affairs from 2010 to 2024, and previously among others.at the Centre for Eastern Studies. Her research interests include the area of the former USSR, with a particular focus on the security and foreign policy of Russia and Belarus. She graduated from the Institute of Political Science and the Centre for East European Studies at the University of Warsaw. She is also an alumnus of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) led by the U.S. Department of State. In 2008, she received the award of the Minister of Science and Higher Education for outstanding academic achievements. She speaks English and Russian well, and has a passive knowledge of Belarusian and Ukrainian.

Maciej Czapluk tracks the legislative process and analyses the impact of new laws, especially judicial ones, on the state and companies’ regulatory environment. He also monitors the situation at the Constitutional Tribunal, as well as legislative and personnel changes at Polish courts. He has a law degree from the University of Warsaw.

Wojciech Szacki heads the political desk at Polityka Insight. Before that, in 2002-2012, he was a journalist at Gazeta Wyborcza, where he followed party politics and opinion polls. Co-host of “Nasłuch” podcast, he also writes for Polityka weekly. He graduated in law at the University of Warsaw in 2002.
Senior Analyst for Political Affairs
Joanna Sawicka follows party politics and maintains contacts with the parties forming the government, especially PO, Polska 2050 and PSL. She prepares the morning political briefing, deals with data analysis and local government issues. At Polityka Insight, she also runs projects focused on the analysis of air quality policies implemented by the government and local governments. She graduated in history and sociology from the University of Warsaw.
Junior Political Affairs Analyst
Michał Piedziuk follows party politics and is responsible for keeping contact with Lewica and the Confederation. He analyzes current political events in the country. He was the editor of the quarterly Młodzi o Polityce and an analyst and editor of election questionnaires at MamPrawoWiedziec.pl. He graduated from Applied Sociology and Social Anthropology at the University of Warsaw.

Krzysztof Kropidłowski covers the financial sector at Polityka Insight, with a particular focus on banking and insurance. He graduated with a degree in Economics and Politics from the University of Oxford. Before Polityka Insight, he worked as a senior financial sector specialist at the Ministry of Finance and as an economic journalist in the Warsaw office of Bloomberg News.

Dominik Brodacki analyses the energy and fuels sector. He has been a co-author of the PI Energy briefing almost since its launch in 2017 and has been an expert at the Ignacy Lukasiewicz Institute for Energy Policy since 2016. Prior to that, he worked for a number of years as a lawyer for Polish and foreign companies. Author of scientific publications, reports and market analyses, including on energy policy, energy law, nuclear power, offshore wind energy and district heating sector. Co-host of the PI Klimat i energia Podcast. Graduated in Law and European Studies from the University of Warsaw.

Julia Cydejko is a contributor to the PI Energy daily briefing and the Energy to Change podcast. She specialises in topics related to low-carbon distributed energy resources and adapting the energy markets and infrastructure to a greener future. She has co-authored reports on the likes of small nuclear reactors and offshore wind, and follows national, EU and international climate policy developments. She holds a degree in Cultural Studies and Liberal Arts from the University of Warsaw. She saves her spare time for literature.
Energy Analyst
Ryszard Kolasiński covers the energy sector and environmental protection, including forest and water policy. Associated with the Polish environmental movement, he attended the COP26 summit as an observer. He holds a degree in Philosophy from the University of Warsaw and enjoys playing the cello in his spare time.

Tomasz Bielecki covers the European Union, Warsaw-Brussels relations and European politics. He previously worked as a journalist for Gazeta Wyborcza, including as a correspondent in Moscow from 2004 to 2008 and in Brussels from 2009. From 2017 to 2024, he contributed to Deutsche Welle and Gazeta Wyborcza in Brussels. Before journalism, he was a professional historian of ancient Israel at the Jagiellonian University. He graduated from the Jagiellonian University with a degree in history and in political science (major in journalism).
