Just Transition in the Silesian Voivodeship: Opportunities and Threats

About the report:

Analysis of the Silesian Voivodeship and its dependence on the mining sector in the context of the inevitable transformation of the energy sector. It also indicates that the Silesian Voivodeship has the potential to successfully undergo transformation and avoid high social and economic costs. At the same time, its authorities will have to deal with demographic problems and the low quality of life of the inhabitants.

  • The degradation of the environment and the highest level of air pollution in Poland significantly reduce the quality of life in the region and contribute to lowering the attractiveness of the Voivodeship in the eyes of potential investors and tourists.
  • To solve all problems connected with transition, enhanced coordination and investment resources from all levels of administration - local, central and European - are needed.
